In partnership with Cisco Networking Academy, Derbyshire Libraries are pleased to be able to give you the opportunity to develop your IT knowledge and skills by enrolling on free online courses.

The self-paced Cisco Networking Academy courses introduce you to a range of different areas and enable you to start on your journey into a career in IT. You can access them from a library computer or from your own device at a time to suit you.

To enroll yourself on the course please enter your email address into the Enroll Now section on this page, and then complete your registration with the Cisco Networking Academy. These step by step instructions explain the registration process.

Course summary

The Get Connected course introduces you to basic computer and Internet navigation skills.
You’ll learn how to:
 
• Identify different types of computer systems, components, printers, and other devices.

• Understand Microsoft Windows and how to work with files and folders.

• Understand computer networking, how to browse and search the Internet, and how to use email.

• Create accounts for Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

• Identify common problems and implement simple solutions for hardware, software, and networks.
